What to do in Royan

Royan is one of the main resorts on the Atlantic coast in the south-west of France, located in the department of Charente-Maritime. The main sports are obviously all about the ocean but you will also find opportunities for sensational trips inland!

Its five sandy beaches are a delight for practicing all the water sports you can dream of like surfing and bodyboarding of course, but also crazier activities like flyboarding or hoverboarding which will allow you to compete with the seagulls soaring above the water!

Once you decide to get a bit further away from the touristic areas up to the Bay of La Palmyre, you will find it easy to learn kitesurfing or improve your techniques on calmer waters while enjoying the wind of the Atlantic coast.

Royan is also surrounded by rivers and lush vegetation amidst which it feels refreshing to go hiking. To make your trips more extreme, you can easily find areas to practice whitewater kayaking or hydrospeed (white water swimming).
