What to do in La Roche-sur-Yon

Located in heart of Vendée, La Roche-sur-Yon was built on granitic rock overhanging the Vallée de Yon. It is strategically located close to some of the most popular water sports spots of Les Sables d’Olonne, where you can practice, surfing, SUP and even wakeboarding!

The aerodrome of René Couzinet is open to the public and is extremely popular with tourists and adrenaline junkies who want to do their first skydive or tandem skydive. It is situated 5 km north-east of La Roche sur Yon and is frequented by helicopters, planes containing skydivers and model aircrafts.

For those of you who prefer land/urban sports, La Roche sur Yon has 2 custom made skate parks, one of which, was an innovation in its field in France.

Skate-park de la Generaudiere
This was one of the first ever skate-parks created in France and was built next to a BMX track. This park contains a bowl, wedge ramp, quarter pipe and a multi-obstacle platform.

The BMX track was completely renovated and is reserved for riders competing at a national level.

Skate-park at Bayard Square
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced level skater, you’re guaranteed to find what you’re looking for in this skate park located in the city centre at Bayard square.

Inaugurated in 2013, this state of the art skate park contains two x shaped tracks with curves, grind boxes, wedge ramps and slopes adapted to skaters, rollerbladers or even BMX riders.
