This stunning city on the French Riviera, synonymous with glamour and having a good time, is a popular holiday destination for all types of trip, and offers a surprising amount of adventure activities to try. This popular spot in the South of France, on the Mediterranean Sea is a paradise of palm-lined promenades, lush parks, beautiful beaches, water sports and panoramic views. Nice Old Town, Local Cuisine and Stunning Architecture –
This destination’s Old Town is a feast for the senses, offering visitors views of colourful red tile-roofed buildings, mazes of passageways to stroll around, smells of fresh pastries from local, and the Mediterranean sun on your skin. For great local cuisine, fresh seafood and independent boutiques and gift shops, the Old Town is the place to visit, with a large number of them hidden away within its maze of streets. A great way to get your bearings of this area is to see it from above by hiking up Castle Hill, in the east of the city – a location with a great family-friendly park with gorgeous panoramic views.
Nice’s beautiful 17th century baroque Cathedral, also near the Old Town area, and Massena Square – a stunning large public square with a multitude of colourful buildings, close to this, are popular spots to visit. The Fontaine du Soleil, an incredible fountain at the heart of the Massena Square, with a 7 metre high white marble statue of the Greek god Apollo at the centre, is another well-visited landmark.
Promenade des Anglais and the Nice Port –
The Promenade des Anglais, an iconic 7km long esplanade along the Nice seafront is a great place to stroll, skate, rollerblade or cycle down, in the Mediterranean sunshine. This palm-lined seafront walkway is the perfect spot to sit on a restaurant terrace and try a Salade Niçoise, for an enjoyable interlude between outdoor sports and adventure activities.
Head over Castle Hill to the Nice Port area of the city, for another charming area for a peaceful stroll in the sun, with yachts and boats of all sizes docked on the stunning blue waters to look at as you wander. This area is the place to go for renting boats, taking boat excursions or hiring sail boats for a cruise along this beautiful coast.
Water Sports – Jet Skiing, Parasailing and SUP in Nice –
Offering visitors miles of pebble beaches, blue skies and even bluer waters, views of this stunning city and its colourful and historic seafront buildings, are best gained from on the water. This city, steeped in glamour and legend, in close proximity to the world-famous film festival city of Cannes, is known worldwide for the excitement and adventure that it has to offer.
Part of this adventure and excitement can be found on the water of this destinations azure blue coast – by heading out on jet skis from the nearby town of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, 10km south-west of Nice, and taking in the marvels of the Mediterranean. See the city at speed, travelling at over 80km/h across these beautiful blue waters. Take a guided Jet Ski excursion from Saint-Laurent-du-Var to Cannes or Monaco, taking in the beauty of Nice, as you go, (on your way to Monaco).
To take in the sights of the city from afar at a slower pace, go on an SUP excursion - a great family activity and a great way to see the marine life of the area. Adversely, try parasailing around Nice’s coastline, for stunning views and a great adrenaline rush - soaring at 30 metres above the water. This area is also a great location to try some flyboarding or hoverboarding with unforgettable experiences available in the area.
Nice From Above – Helicopter Tours –
A popular way of travelling around the Côte d’Azur area is via helicopter – take a helicopter excursion between Nice and Cannes or Nice and Monaco to see this stunning area from above, or just use it as a thrilling way to get around quicker.
