What to do in Levi

Situated 3 hours North of Rovaniemi by bus, Levi is the perfect spot to set up camp if you want to escape the commercial capital of Lapland while still enjoying the perks of a city centre.

Constructed around Finland’s most popular ski station, many Fins travel here to use the slopes as well as to do some cross-country. For tourists, however, the attractions extend much further than the Fjell itself.

Perfectly located for easy access to Arctic landscapes, Levi is a good point to begin your exploration of the Arctic Circle. Guides from all around the area will often pick you up from the literal “Zero Point” - a big commercial complex in the centre of Levi - to set off to frozen lakes, natural parks, and Santa villages.

Come to this city to try out Lapland’s many outdoor activities: go on a Northern Lights chase by Snowmobile, enjoy a day out on the pistes, be it cross-country or alpine skiing, meet a pack of huskies and go dogsledding, or embark on a humble snowshoeing adventure in the ancient forests of the Arctic.

Levi is easily accessible by bus, and most instructors offer free pick-ups from the city. The city centre is also very walkable, so if you wish to focus your time on the town and its activities, it is very manageable. However, if you wish to have a bit more freedom to venture out to its Elf Village or the back of the Fjell (where there exists some beautiful, more isolated accommodation), we recommend renting out a car, to save money on taxi fares.
