Skopelos Island’s history, untouched natural environment, rich biodiversity, interesting geological structures and important cultural elements, in combination with warm hospitality, adequate infrastructures and qualitative diving services, is an ideal mix that offers memorable diving and cruising experiences.
Skopelos island is part of the Thessaly region and is located between the two islands of Skiathos and Alonissos. Skopelos has an area of 96 square kilometres (37 sq mi). Skopelos (Chora), with its 3,027 inhabitants (also called skopelitans), is the main port and the municipal center of the island. It is situated in the bay on the northern coast. Glossa is the second biggest village on the island. The other settlements are Elios (Neo Klima), Staphylos, Loutraki, Palio Klima, Agnontas, Panormos. The length of the coastline of Skopelos is 67 km (42 mi).
Skopelos has many beaches, some of which are accessible only by boat, along white limestone cliffs and under dense forest and thus deserves its nickname of the “green on blue” island. Among these beaches are: Staphylos, Velanio, Amarantos, Limnonari, Panormos, Adrines, Milia, Kastani, Elios, Hovolo, Armenopetra, Glyfoneri, Glysteri, Perivoliou, Keramoto, Chondrogiorgos.
