Picking up power as it races through Picos de Europa National Park, the rivers are renowned for their unexpected twists and turns that make it one of the top rafting destinations in northern Spain. Travel from its source deep in the Cantabrian Mountains on this all-or-nothing whitewater adventure!
You can choose between three different excursions: Cares river, Deva river or Sella river. The Cares is a category III-IV river that runs from León in Picos de Europa National Park to the Cantabrian Sea. A 54km route that passes through Asturias, this tributary of the Deva, also has its own walking trail ‘Ruta del Cares’ that runs parallel through the many gorges, caves, lakes, forests and peaks.
The Deva is a category II-III river that creates a natural frontier between Asturias and Cantabria. A 64km route from Fuente Dé into the Cantabrian Sea, it flows through Picos de Europa National Park where it forms impressive gorge systems and ravines like La Hermida.
Finally, The Sella river is a category III river that starts at the ‘Fuente del Infierno’ in the Picos de Europa National Park, it runs through the Austrian towns of Ponga, Amieva, Cangas de Onis, Pares and Ribadesella on a 66km route into the Cantabrian Sea.
