If you were standing at the summit of Gran Paradiso, at 4061 meters over the sea level, your eyes would be embracing a breathtaking view over the National Park below. Let your spirit free in the larch and fir forests, wide alpine grasslands, majestic rock formations, the tireless rivers, white snowy peaks and ancient glaciers.
The territory of the Park extends between Piemonte and Valle d'Aosta in the northwest of Italy and covers a territory of 70.000 acres of uncontaminated alpine nature. The symbol of the park is the wild goat, which largely populates the area together with marmots, deers, chamois. mountain hare, foxes, black grouse and golden eagles. The park is composed by 5 valleys: Valle Orco, Valle Soana, Valle di Cogne, Valsavarenche and Valle di Rhêmes.
The Gran Paradiso National Park offers every season of the year different conditions suitable for all sort of outdoor activities. Late spring and summer are the ideal months for high altitude excursions, as the alpinism routes to Vittorio Emanuele refuge, or for trekking and mountain biking adventures in the valleys.
Climbing on rocks or ice is a widely practiced sport in the Gran Paradiso National Park: you will be happily surprised in discovering a Yosemite behind your backyard! The five valleys offer hundreds of routes for any level and taste! Other summer activities as vie ferrate, rafting and canyoning are widely available in the park!
Ever dreamed about skiing in Paradise? Then there's no more appropriate place than Gran Paradiso! In all the valleys are small ski facilities (Cersole Reale, Noasca, Locana, Ribordone) in Piemonte and Valsavarenche, Villeneuve, Cogne on the other side.
