Conquer the mighty Zambezi during this wild white water rafting adventure in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe!
The Zambezi, the fourth largest river in Africa, is one of the most beautiful and least explored rivers on earth. Zambezi means ‘Great River’ in the language of the Tonga people, and indeed the river is world renowned for Victoria Falls, which is one of the 7 wonders of the world! Needless to say, the chance to explore these mystic and fast flowing waters by rafting is an experience of a lifetime!
Commercial rafting first started on the Zambezi River in 1981, and since then, it has become a must do activity on every visitor’s bucket list. The river is classified as a grade 5, meaning that there are long stretches of intense rapids, steep gradients, and big drops, making for a demanding and incredibly exhilarating white water rafting experience! Your guides are fully trained professionals who hold advanced first aid certificates, and they will lead you skillfully through the Zambezi’s rapids. You will also be equipped with top quality equipment including special river tested rafts, high flotation life jackets, safety helmets, and wetsuits depending on the weather – ensuring your white water rafting trip is both safe and enjoyable!
The rafting trip begins with either a pick-up from your accommodation (option available during low-water season) or by meeting at the activity base in Victoria Falls. From there, you will have a 20 minute descent into the gorge to get to the raft launch site. After a safety and activity briefing to make sure you are confident on the water, you will get equipped and then it is time to embark on your 24km white water rafting adventure on the Zambezi River! After you face the Zambezi’s rapids and work up an appetite, you will have a group lunch at the top of the gorge to end your day on a relaxed note whilst swapping stories with your fellow adventurers.
