This is the first level of scuba diving certification in which you will learn from scratch to dive in any sea in the world without the need of a diving instructor. In this Open Water course in Tarifa you will learn during 4 days the use of the diving equipment and the skills you need to dive up to 18 meters deep thanks to the experienced SSI instructors of Puerto Buceo in Cadiz. This course consists of a first theoretical part to be done at home using the SSI platform and three practical parts: diving exercises in the Olympic swimming pool of the PuertoBahía hotel in Cadiz, exercises in the sea simulating real diving situations and, finally, 4 open water dives in 2 days at 12 and 18 metres depth, the last ones in the Natural Park of Tarifa. We assure you that you will end up being a diving expert with an international SSI certificate and there will be no sea in the world that will resist you!

Practical information
The course has 4 phases which will last approximately 4 days. It will include theory (at the SSI centre in Puerto de Santa Maria), Olympic pool exercises (at the hotel PuertoBahia), sea exercises and the 4 dives (in Tarifa, Natural Park).
- Pre-course home study of 5 dive theory modules on the SSI platform, after submission of the SSI online kit.
- Meeting with the instructor and theory review with the SSI instructor.
- Diving exercises in confined water (Olympic size pool 30 meters long and depth 2.30 meters) in which you will learn how to handle the equipment and skills that will be applied in the sea.
- Carrying out different exercises in the sea in real diving situations, to teach safety protocols and individual and collective skills.
In this phase as well as during the dives you will learn emergency protocols, towing divers, removing cramps, removing and placing equipment on the surface, buoy filling....
- 4 dives in two days in the open sea in Tarifa. The first two dives to a depth of no more than 12 metres and the other two to a depth of no more than 18 metres. The last two dives will be done at dive sites in the Natural Park of Tarifa where you will go with the dive boat.
- Return to the dive centre.
Know how to swim.
For this activity, a responsible declaration of SSI health (document implicit in the SSI study kit) will have to be made.
It is possible to hire transport from Cadiz to Tarifa by prior arrangement and booking with the dive centre.
