The dog sledding adventure takes place in Kvaløya, a beautiful island located in the Troms og Finnmark county near the city of Tromsø in Norway. The island features stunning coastal scenery and mountain landscapes.

For this activity, you will be picked up from the starting point in the city of Tromsø and driven to the dog kennels on Kvaløya Island. Upon arrival, you'll meet the adorable and friendly husky dogs and puppies! After some time playing and interacting with the huskies, you'll get prepared for the dog sledding ride. The experience guide will take you through a safety briefing before you get set up on the sled.

In addition, you'll share the sled between two and sit as passengers. The experienced musher will drive the team of dogs through the snowy winter wonderland. As you ride past the forests, mountains, and fjords, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the views! There will be plenty of opportunities to capture some amazing photos.

After the dog sledding excursion, you'll return to the kennels. Then, a delicious hot lunch will be served in a cosy 'gamme' hut. While sitting around an open fire you'll enjoy Bidos (a traditional Sami reindeer dish), chocolate cake, coffee and tea. The guide will also share some insights about the Alaskan Huskies and teach you about the breed. After saying goodbye to your new furry friends, the guide will drive you back to the starting point in Tromsø.

Practical information

For this activity, the sled will be driven by the experienced guide and you will sit in the sled as a passenger (usually two passengers per sled).

This tour is most suited for guests who want a more relaxed experience, such as families with children, or elderly passengers.

- Arrive at the starting point in Tromsø

- Drive to the kennel in Kvaløya (approximately 30 minutes)

- Meet the dogs

- Safety briefing and set up the sled

- The dog sledding adventure begins!

- Dog sledding excursion for approximately 45 minutes

- Arrive back at the kennel

- Enjoy snack

- Return drive to the starting point in Tromsø (approximately 30minutes)

Activity requirements

This option does not have an age limit and is suitable for special-needs clients. Children younger than 3 are free of charge.

This activity includes transportation from Tromsø to the kennel in Kvaløya. Please arrive at the starting point at least 15 minutes before the activity start time.

The journey itself to Tromso Wilderness centre was a scenic drive. Thermal jackets and boots were provided at the reception for those that are not dressed warm enough. We then started the ride of a lifetime in the sleigh pulled by the huskies! It was a breathtaking n fun ride through the snowy wilderness, the view was just so magical and picturesque! After the ride, we get to cuddle and play with the huskies and 3 puppies which are all so friendly and well-trained! Ending off with a delicious lunch of warm reindeer soup, hot drinks and dessert cake. Overall, it was a great experience and our family totally enjoyed every moment! Highly recommend to go for this in Tromso.

A wonderful experience. My wife and I really enjoyed the experience an the dog yard. Our host and our Sled driver/guide were both professional and friendly. The lunch was excellent. we would highly recommend. Our activity was rescheduled from Tuesday to Thursday but the 'good weather' on Thursday made up for our disappointment on Tuesday. Never thought I'd call snow shower as good weather!!

This was such a wonderful experience - highly recommend, especially for families. It's so well organized, the team takes great pride and care of the dogs, the sledding was so much fun and it's so well organized and informative.

From hearing the excited barking of the dogs when we arrived, we knew we were in for a real treat. The whole experience exceeded our already high expectation: beautiful ride, friendly and professional guide, great introduction on the operation of the place and raising of the dogs, cuddling of the puppies, and the wonderful soup served in the lavu. We loved everything!
