Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands in Greece, situated in the Aegean Sea. Theologos Beach is located on the northwestern coast of the island, characterised by its golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Theologos is one of the best kitesurfing spots in Rhodes! The Meltem wind blows almost every day in the peak season (from May to October) and the water is warm which means you don’t even need a wetsuit. The water temperatures vary between 23–29°C (73-85°F) during this time.
You can choose from different lesson lengths, either as a private lesson or in small groups of 2-3 people. To begin, you'll meet the certified instructor at the starting point at Theologos Beach. They will provide a safety briefing and all of the necessary equipment for kitesurfing. For the beginner lessons, you'll start with theory to understand the basic techniques for kitesurfing, the gear, wind window and how to steer your kite. Then, you'll start with a trainee kite on the beach, learning body-dragging techniques and water starts, before making your way into the water.
In the clear, warm water, you'll practice all of the techniques for kitesurfing! In the morning, the wind blows more gently, creating ideal conditions for beginners. It picks up to between 20-27 knots in the afternoon, optimal for more advanced riders. If you have kitesurfing experience, you can choose a refresher lesson where you can advance your skills. This spot is adapted to people of all levels from beginners to advanced kiters. At the end of the lesson, you'll return to the starting point at the beach.
