Practical information
This Island Paddle trip will give you a real taste of the lagoon! During this 2-hour excursion, you'll explore the beautiful surroundings of Schaapen Island. Since it is a protected bird colony, you'll be treated to a variety of bird species, as well as other wildlife which includes seals and white bunnies (yes, really!).
This family-friendly tour is suited to all ages and is a great way to not only enjoy nature and physical activity, but also learn more about the history of the area including the whaling station, Saldana steel, and Postberg.
Your experienced instructor will provide a safety briefing and go over some basic kayaking techniques. Then the adventure begins! You'll be using a 2-person, plastic, sit-on-top kayak that is very stable and easy to paddle, even for beginners! In addition, you'll be equipped with a PFD (lifejacket).
While there is an inherent element of risk in every adventure, sea kayaking with professional guides should not be considered dangerous. All guides are trained in First Aid and carry a first aid kit with them. However, it is your responsibility to make sure that you have any personal medication with you (e.g. asthma puffers, allergy medication, etc.).
Please be advised that your instructor can arrange transport for an additional fee. In addition, directions will be provided once your booking has been confirmed.
