The idyllic glen is a 400 million-year-old chasm of volcanic rock looked over by the majestic Caste Campbell. Dollar Glen is a visitor attraction so it is well signposted and very accessible with parking near at hand. This makes it a superb location for first-time canyoners because there is little commitment which allows beginners to learn at their own pace. The canyon has all the classic canyoning features such as jumps, slides, waterfall abseils, and deep pools which makes it a wonderful adventure for all. Every trip starts with a welcome meeting including acknowledgment of risk and an introduction to the equipment. Then following a short scenic hike through the glen guests practice the skills required for the descent in a safe location. Following an exhilarating 2 - 2.5 hours of continuous action, a short hike back to the meeting point is rewarded with home-baked snacks, tea, coffee or beer and a chance to exchange photos whilst reflecting on a magical experience.
