Part of a protected region that's spread over 279 square kilometres and situated between 500 meters and 4,153 meters above sea level, natural gems like the Turtmann Valley of the Barrhorn, Switzerland’s highest hiking mountain and the rocky steppes of Leuk make it one of the most popular destinations in summer for hikers and paddlers.
Activity
A three-hour excursion along the Rhone River, this kayaking trip uses inflatable two-seater boats suitable for total beginners. Travelling a section of the river renowned for its wide passages, stunning natural landmarks and small rapids, this easy, fun and accessible kayaking trip starts on the banks of the river where you will pair up and meet your lead guide. Learning a few basic paddling techniques and working on your teamwork, boats will follow a simple route that starts on flat water - working you up to a few fast and bumpy class II whitewater rapids. A unique and exciting way of exploring the Rhone River, no previous experience necessary, - making it ideal for children 10 years+.
Conditions
Class I rivers are considered easy for all ages with fast-moving water and small waves. Few obstructions, all obvious and easily missed with little training.
Class II rivers are suitable for beginners due to the straightforward rapids with wide, clear channels which are evident without scouting. Occasional manoeuvring may be required, but rocks and medium-sized waves are easily avoided by trained paddlers.
