Nestled between high mountains, at nearly 2000 metres above sea level and right next to the Swiss-Italian border, the Gondo River is home to a beautiful scenery that paints the prettiest picture for canyoning.
Only a 40-minute ride away from Brig, you will find the 20 km-long Simplon Pass that connects Switzerland with Italy. The calmness of the silent mountains contrasts with the water rushing through the gorge, offering you the perfect spot to spend a day canyoning.
Teenagers are welcome from 14 years old and up, making it accessible for families to join in on all the fun. After the proper safety instructions and equipment are received, you will be able to explore the crystal clear water, jump around and abseil down waterfalls and slides. Napoleon ordered the construction of the Simplon Road at the beginning of the 19th century thus making this once-impossible canyon passable. You can also admire the famous Swiss engineering as you get a glimpse of the railroad that goes through the Simplon Tunnel, used by the Orient Express in the 20th century to go between Paris and Istambul.
