Horseback Riding in the Arctic Backcountry from Alta

Come out to a real arctic ranch and visit the Norwegian country by horse! This excursion will go at your pace, be it a walk, trot, or gallop through the wild Arctic nature.

Just 10 minutes away from Alta city centre, Flatmoen Farm lies on the brink of the wild backcountry, with its beautiful Norwegian Fjord Horses. On this excursion, your guide will pick you up directly from the city to head out to the farm. Once there, you will meet the horses, and depending on your level of expertise, you will learn a little about the different aspects of managing a stable and riding a horse.

Then it will be time to get the tack and saddle up for the adventure. Depending on your level, this will either be a leisurely walk, a playful trot, or an exhilarating gallop in the surrounding Arctic wilderness. The nearby forests and rivers are magical in the wintertime! Enjoy the scenery as you make your way through snow-clad pine trees. If you're very lucky, you and your four-legged companion may encounter the king of the forest, the moose, who resides in this part of Norway.

Along the way, you'll dismount at a shelter to enjoy a cinnamon bun and a cup of coffee by a warm fire.
