Head to the Advent Valley on this Northern Lights hunt through geologically fantastic valleys! Ages 8 + are welcome.
Spend a Polar Night chasing the Northern Lights in the Advent Valley!
This adventure will take you from your accommodation in Longyearbyen all the way to the Advent Valley, where lies a fantastic natural ice phenomenon known to the Inuits as "pingos". Your guide will tell you everything there is to know about this fascinating construction as you drive away from the city and into the darkness of Svalbard's wilderness. In these areas, you will have nothing but the moon, stars and snowmobile headlights for lighting, making the chase for the aurora borealis all the more exciting. Indeed, the Polar Night in Svalbard provides ideal conditions for the Northern Lights, which come out here earlier in the day than most inhabited places in the world.
Along the way to the pingos, you will also snowmobile past historic spots and natural landmarks such as the Operafjellet mountain. Before leaving Longyearbyen, you will be provided with thermal overalls, mittens, balaclavas, boots, and helmets to keep you safe and warm during the journey. Your guide will provide hot drinks and snacks for the journey, so all you need with you is your driver's license, camera and some warm thermal underwear and sweaters.
Become one of the rare people in the world to chase the Northern Lights during the day and take part in this accessible snowmobile excursion, open to children as young as 8 years old!
