Head to the Advent Valley by ATV on this Northern Lights hunt through geologically fantastic valleys!
This adventure will take you from your accommodation in Longyearbyen all the way to the Advent Valley, where lies a fantastic natural ice phenomenon known to the Inuits as "pingos". You will drive your own quad bike along the snowy valleys, passing by historical and natural landmarks on the way. Pause in front of Operafjellet mountain, and discover Longyearbyen's old airport, before revving up the engines in the direction of Advent Valley. Your guide will tell you everything there is to know about these fascinating spots along the way.
On the Polar Night, you will have nothing but the moon, stars, and headlights of your Can-Am Outlander ATVs for lighting as you head out of the city of Longyearbyen and into the wilderness. These are ideal conditions for the Northern Lights, which come out in Svalbard earlier in the day than most inhabited places in the world. Cross your fingers under your mittens and hope for the green lights to come out dancing above you as you drive along in the silence of the Arctic!
Before leaving Longyearbyen, you will be provided with thermal overalls, mittens, balaclavas, boots, and helmets to keep you safe and warm during the journey. Your guide will provide hot drinks and snacks for the journey, so all you need with you is your driver's license, camera and some warm thermal underwear and sweaters.
Become one of the rare people in the world to chase the Northern Lights during the day during this exhilarating quad bike ride through the Arctic wilderness!
