This guided sea kayaking excursion to Amber Island, in the north-east of Mauritius, is a must-do in the Grand Gaube and Goodlands area. For around 3 hours, you will have the pleasure of navigating not only the mangrove swamps that are omnipresent in this unspoilt area, but also the crystal-clear waters of the Amber Island's lagoon in a sit-on-top sea kayak, accompanied by a guide who knows the area like no other.

What's more, a short walking tour of the island during the excursion will take you to discover its ruins, as well as its flora and fauna, which the guide will be delighted to introduce to you. You will have a short snorkeling break, and will also be able to admire the superb white sandy beach of Islet Bernache, a must for any kayak trip to Amber Island!

Practical information

Course of events

- Meeting with the guide at the meeting point (once you arrive, tell the intercom that you are here to kayak with Yemaya, then drive to the end of the road to reach the jetty)

- Distribution of equipment and briefing on the activity

- Launch of the kayaks and departure for the excursion, which lasts around 3 hours and includes a walking tour of Amber Island and its ruins, a snorkeling break and a snack break at a kiosk

- Return to the starting point, return of your equipment and end of the activity

Activity requirements

Children aged 5 to 6 must be accompanied by 2 adults (they will be seated between the 2 adults in a double kayak).

Children aged 7 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult (together in the same double kayak).

Very good experience 🛶 through the mangroves. The snorkling and the walk on the island were nice too and gave some historical background followed by a little snack. Definitely recommended doing it when there.
