Explore Europe's 4th largest glacier on a hike to Mýrdalsjökull!
A surprising feature of this glacier is that beneath it lies an active volcano, Katla, one of Iceland's largest, which has been lying half-asleep under the ice since 1918, the date of its last eruption...
When you arrive at the meeting point, you will meet your guide, who will accompany you throughout this activity. He will explain how the excursion works and the safety instructions to be followed. He will lend you the necessary equipment (harness, crampons, helmet, etc.) and then you will set off for your hike on the Mýrdalsjökull glacier at Sólheimajökull.
You will spend around 1? hours on the ice. You will encounter numerous crevasses, deep cracks in the surface of the glacier and vertical shafts in the ice. Your guide will give you a detailed history of the glacier and explain how ice forms on mountain tops!
If what you're looking for is to discover one of the most astonishing natural wonders on Earth while breathing in the fresh Icelandic mountain air, this excursion is perfect for you.
