Epidaurus, also known as Epidavros, is an ancient archaeological site located in the eastern part of the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece. It is renowned for its well-preserved ancient theatre. While Epidaurus is primarily known for its historic sites, it also offers a variety of water activities due to its coastal location. The clear waters of the Saronic Gulf offer excellent visibility and diverse marine life, including colourful fish, sea turtles, and coral reefs.

The scuba diving adventure begins at the starting point in Epidaurus. The certified instructors will greet you and welcome you on board a small boat, with a maximum capacity of 24 passengers. The scuba diving equipment (mask, fins, snorkel, wetsuit, regulator and tank) will be provided on board. You will start with a safety briefing on the boat, where the instructor will explain how to use the equipment and also go through the theory of scuba diving. You’ll sail to an ideal spot and get into the crystal clear waters.

You’ll start by practising swimming with the fins on the surface and getting used to breathing with the regulator. Once you have mastered the techniques, you’ll swim to the edge of a beach and do 4 confidence-building exercises. The instructor will continue to share insights to ensure you feel as safe as possible. Once you are comfortable with the theory, it’s time for your first dive! You’ll travel to the best diving spot, with a maximum depth of 8 metres. Epidaurus is surrounded by several iconic dive sites with diverse flora and fauna.

For around 30 minutes you will explore a whole new world beneath the surface! Discover different species of Mediterranean fish, including pieces of amphora, lionfish, triggerfish, eels and octopuses. You’ll also explore interesting underwater rock formations and caves. The visibility and warm temperatures of the water make this destination perfect for scuba diving! At the end of the dive, you’ll board the boat and travel back to the starting point in Epidaurus, equipped with your new scuba diving knowledge.
