Adventure dives in Alonissos

The diving spots

Alonissos is famous for the rocky beaches and the super beautiful greenery around the island. There are various diving spots for intermediate and advanced divers in the south and eastern side of the island. You can also dive in Mavros Kavos island and the Two Brothers island in the east side. The water temperatures during summer range from 18 to 27o C.

The Caves in the South: Beautiful cave systems with a wall dropping down to 25m. You finish off in a cave with light blue colours and plenty of fish life. The maximum depth to reach is 30m. and you need an Open Water to dive in this spot.

Xera Mourtias: It is a stone reef in the middle of the bay. You will have a drop off from about 10m down to 33m. You can find a large bed of sea grass and on the top you will find crabs, octopuses, nudibranch and other fish. The depth ranges from 15-33m. and you need an OW certificate.

Mavros Kavos Island: In the island of Mavros Kavos you will find a very intriguing deep dive. You can find great marine life and bigger than usual fish around the island. It's an area of many boulders. On the west side you can find a vertical wall that is impressive. The maximum depth to reach is 40m. and you need to be at least an OW diver.

Two Brothers Island: One of the most impressive wall dives around Alonissos is on the Brothers island. At the beginning you will have a shallow swim and then you will drop off to 30 or 50 m. depending on experience. You need to be an Advanced Open Water diver to dive on that spot. On the north you will find an exquisite wreck for advanced divers.
