Snorkeling is the perfect outing for friends and families who wish to discover the unique aquatic environment of Rangiroa atoll.
Located near the Kia Ora village hotel on the beach of Ohutu Bay, The 6 Passengers offers you a snorkeling trip with dolphins in the company of a professional and experienced guide.
You will first enjoy a "traditional" snorkeling at the Rangiroa Aquarium, in shallow water protected from the current. It is located at the entrance to the lagoon of Tiputa Pass, separated by an islet, one side of which is always sheltered from outgoing or incoming currents, making it perfectly suited to your safety for snorkeling. You will discover a beautiful coral garden, small lagoon sharks and all the Polynesian lagoon fauna and flora.
Then comes the long-awaited moment of searching for dolphins on the ocean side! You will first observe the bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops) from a distance, without disturbing them, and try to swim and play with them if they are curious and come to meet you!
And to finish in beauty, you will drift in the Tiputa pass, only if the current is in. Just let yourself be carried by the current with your snorkeling gear in the hope of encountering "big fish" crossing the Tiputa channel, or simply enjoy drifting for a long distance without having to make any effort.
Transportation to the various spots is provided by an 8.5m BWA RIB boat.

Practical information
Free pick up from your hotel (all guesthouses and hotels in the Avatoru area), 5 to 15 minutes transport depending on the distance to the center.
Arrival at the center with presentation and briefing on safety and equipment before getting on the boat. 5 minutes of navigation to the Aquarium snorkeling spot: discovery of the corals and many reef fish, then back in the boat to go offshore, on the ocean side, to look for dolphins. Launch if possible depending on the conditions (dolphins are unpredictable animals), then climb back on board the boat to reach the entrance of Tiputa channel (the channel is always in the incoming current, except when there is no current at all, which is exceptional). Launch for the drift dive if conditions are right, then return to the boat and debrief over coffee/tea.
Return to the center for de-equipping before returning to the hotel.
You must be able to swim to participate to this activity.
The 6 Passengers can pick you up at your accomodation in Avatoru: please contact them after your booking is confirmed to arrange the pick-up.
It is possible to bring your own snorkeling equipment, which is always preferable, especially for children.
