Sailing Trip from Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands are an archipelago consisting of 18 major islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean between Norway and Iceland. The Faroe Islands are a unique and enchanting destination, offering a blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. Tórshavn is the capital and largest city, situated on the island of Streymoy. It is known for its beautiful harbour and breathtaking coastal landscapes.

The sailing journey begins at the starting point in Tórshavn, where you will board the Faroese sailing ship and meet the experienced guide. The ship is fully equipped with toilets, ventilation and heating, seating, and a modern kitchen in the guest area below deck. Everyone is welcome on board, and the ship holds a maximum capacity of 15 passengers. After a quick safety and itinerary briefing, the sailing adventure begins!

The skipper will set sail across the clear blue North Atlantic Ocean, passing by the Government buildings on Tinganes on the way out of the harbour. Depending on the sailing conditions, the skipper will either sail to the island of Nólsoy opposite Tórshavn, or follow the coastline to the inlets of Hoyvíkin and Kaldbaksfjørður, both offering fantastic views of the coastline and the surrounding islands. You’ll experience the stunning natural beauty of the Faroe Islands, with steep cliffs, picturesque fjords, and lush remote islands.

Make sure to keep an eye out for seabird colonies nesting on cliffs, including puffins, guillemots, and fulmars! You'll make a stop along the way for the guide to demonstrate the traditional way of fishing with a handline. As you sail, you can relax above or below the deck, watch out for marine wildlife such as seals, dolphins, and whales, or learn about the history of the area from the local guide. Delicious pastries and hot tea or coffee will also be served during your peaceful journey. The sailing trip will end back at the starting point in Tórshavn.
