Enjoy a hike through an enchanted laurel forest in the park of La Zarza with La Palma Outdoor!

Do you know the laurisilva forests? They are subtropical forests with some of the oldest flora in the world that in Europe can only be found in the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores. So if your destination is La Palma, you can't miss the laurisilva forest in the Archaeological Park of La Zarza. From there, we propose a 7.5 km circular route with a local guide who will teach you how to identify its fauna and flora, explain the use that the island's population has made of the forest centuries ago as well as its importance.

The hike starts at the cultural centre of La Zarza, where your guide will welcome you and after giving you some information about the excursion you will enter the forest to discover a magical environment with a great variety of interesting species, which you will identify like experts thanks to the advice of your guide! Along the way, you will visit the viewpoint of Doña Pola, where you will find breathtaking views of the coastal cliffs. Finally, in the last kilometre, you will be proposed to walk in silence to feel all the tranquillity and magic of the landscape around you. As this is a circular route, you will arrive back at the cultural centre of La Zarza, which you can visit to get even more information about the park.

The path is accessible for both adults and children, who will feel as if they are walking through a fairy tale. However, as it has a 300m difference in height, it is not recommended if you have reduced mobility or if you have any injuries or pains.

Come to La Zarza and discover a landscape of extraordinary beauty in our country!
