Explore the rugged backcountry of the Yukon around Whitehorse by snowshoeing, an ancient arctic sport that remains a significant part of Yukon’s culture today!

Snowshoeing has been around for thousands of years. Natives, gold miners, fur traders and trappers once relied on snowshoes to access the snow covered wilds of the Yukon, and by embarking on your own snowshoeing adventure, you will follow in their footsteps! Snowshoeing is also a fun and easy way to walk over snow, allowing you safe access to the incredible scenery that Yukon’s backcountry has to offer!

Before starting your snowshoeing tour near Whitehorse, you will be provided with a pair of high quality, lightweight snowshoes that will enable you to manoeuvre through the thick snow, between the trees, and up and down the mountain side! Wildlife such as grouse, foxes, coyotes, and snow hares can occasionally be spotted at a distance, and your guide will be able to talk to you about the local wildlife while expertly leading you through the peaceful, snow-blanketed wilderness of the Yukon. During the snowshoe tour you will also get to enjoy a break with snacks, a warm beverage, and a breathtaking view!
