Terceira Island is the third largest island in the Azores, after Santa Maria and São Miguel. Although less known, it is an island not to be missed if you are travelling in the Azores, as Terceira Island is home to the Serra do Cume, the largest crater in the Azores; the Terceira Natural Park, with incredible landscapes such as Ilhéu das Cabras and its beautiful capital, Angra do Heroísmo, is a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Ilhéu das Cabras or Ilhéu das Cabras is two islets in the south of Terceira that can only be reached by boat. This uninhabited islet is a nesting area for several species of seabirds such as Canarian shearwaters, common terns and roseate terns.
