Running through three countries 518 kilometres from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, the River Inn is also one of the most popular whitewater rafting routes – with sections ranging from II-IV; Starting in the town of Haiming, this route travels 30km to Oetztal.
Activity
Meet your guide at the activity base in Sautens for this family-friendly rafting excursion on the Inn River. Suitable for swimmers from 10 years old, this full-day adventure is a test of endurance – showcasing some of the region’s most beautiful and challenging terrain along rapids that range from II-III. Starting with a detailed safety briefing and kit check before you travel to the embankment area, total beginners will be giving a quick lesson on the commands and paddle techniques from an in-boat guide. Once you set off, the day will start with some flat water sections to ensure you get your bearings, moving onto faster challenging with a few riffs and rapids. Stopping for a picnic lunch on the river bank, the second section has some large creeks and high waves – putting your new skills to the test as you paddle on thundering whitewater and bump along slides and drops. A 30km route for friends and family alike, once you reach the finish line, you’ll be transferred back to the base where you can change and get a hot shower.
Conditions
The River Inn is suitable for rafting from May – October along a class II-III section of the river suitable for children as young as 10 years old. River classifications are explained below:
Class II: Straightforward rapids with wide, clear channels, rocks and medium sized waves
Class III: Rapids with moderate, irregular waves, strong eddies and powerful currents
